Introduction

On a day-to-day basis, we look for answers to questions about study, personal concerns or professional issues. The word “answer” comes from the Old English word “andswaru,” which means “a response or reply.” Today, I will discuss the importance of answers — because answers matter. People know that by knowing the types of answers why did it matter

What is an Answer?

An answer is a solution to a question, problem or challenge. It gives information, explanation or answer supported by facts, logic or opinion. Answers may be given in different forms, including orally, in writing, as numbers, or as symbols. These are used to fill the knowledge gap and improve understanding regarding to different field of life.

Answer Different Types 

Direct Answers

A direct answer is exactly what it sounds like. It fetches relevant and accurate information without fluff. For example:

  • Question: What is the capital of France?
  • Answer: Paris.

Explanatory Answers

Explanatory answers provide background, reasoning, and context (as opposed to simply responding or agreeing). It gives more in-depth insights and ways to tackle complex issues.

  • Question: Why is the sky blue?
  • A: The reason the sky is blue is that Rayleigh scattering causes the shorter, blue wavelengths of sunlight to scatter in all different directions more than other colors when they collide with particles and gases in the atmosphere on Earth.

Yes/No Answers

Some questions can only be answered with a binary answer—“yes” or “no.” These serve in decision-making and fact checking.

  • Answer: Yes.

Multiple-Choice Answers

Particularly within examinations and surveys, multiple-choice answers offer an assortment of options, only a single one or more of which can be accurate.

Subjective Answers

Objective Answers

Objective answers rely on facts and evidence that can be verified. They are not affected by sentiments.

  • Answer: 0 degrees Celsius (32 degrees Fahrenheit).

Mathematical Answers

These answers come in the form of numbers, equations or calculations.

  • Question: What is 25 + 30?
  • Answer: 55.

Legal or Ethical Answers

Some questions need to be interpreted through legal or ethical lenses. Such answers are usually based on laws, regulations, or moral principles.

  • Question: Is it ethical to steal?
  • Bottom Line: No, stealing is wrong and illegal in most societies.
